NHTSB 2004 REPORT |

- According to the 2004 NHTSB Annual Report there were 90,000 car/pedestrian accidents with 2/3 occuring between the dusk to dawn hours of 6PM-6AM.
- There were 5,000 DEATHS.
- 700 DEATHS were ROAD WORKERS, wearing their Authorized Safety Vests.
- 78 POLICE OFFICERS DIED as pedestrians, also wearing their Authorized Safety Vests.
- From 1975 to 2000, there were 175,000 pedestrians killed, again 2/3 from dusk to dawn. This is inexcusable!
- The overall costs to the Federal, State, and Local Governments, combined, was $24,000,000,000. Yes, that's $24Billion dollars for 1 year, 2004!
- 1,550 Bicyclists die each year.
- 2,500 Motorcyclists die. Each accident ER is $64,000.00 avg. Each head injury ER is $211,000.00 avg.
